Week 9

Acti System Motion CaptureThe high point of this week, the ninth, was the recording session with actors for the Motion Capture of people's faces. Acti System came to set up infra-red cameras (six of them) in our recording studio and we then recorded the dialogs for synchronization with the animation sequences. It takes half an hour just to set up an actor for the recording. Forty captors are placed on the face (small discs that reflect light back in the direction of its source) and then a computer records the movement of these discs. Most notably, we recorded Dakobah and Telis, two characters from the adventure, Astaroth, the demon of the Last Circle, and two ads that will be broadcast on the 3D TV the player will find in his apartment. anti-gravity motorcycles
The film for the Imagina festival is coming along. We have basically finished the settings, and are now dealing with the trajectories of the anti-gravity motorcycles (Bike-Slider), passers-by and special effects (explosions). As for the game, Olivier has put Betsy into real-time mode. He had to deal with a delicate issue - modeling Betsy's panties, which became visible when she lifted her leg during combat.

On the programming end, Antoine has fixed the bug encountered in mapping the deformable faces, with the help of a brilliant idea from Fabien. The deformable faces now work perfectly. Antoine also transferred his routines to 15-bits, which will let us start playing with light effects. We have fallen a little behind on the combat Game Play, which was announced for early December. Fabien has decided to spend a little more time fine-tuning the routines for collisions and various little things, so that he won't have to work on them again later. Spirits are still just as high as ever. The interest the game has started to generate is keeping the pressure on us....
