Week 4
The main event this week is the preparation of the motion capture sessions that take place at our partner Acti Vision's office in Dijon. I have been preparing for this for three weeks. Three martial arts champions have been hired to participate. Dan Schwartz, president of the French Shaolin Kung Fu Federation, Tony Dehas, national technical director, and Crystal, the woman of the group. Great care was taken to design animations in a way that offers something different from existing combat games.
The day's session went well - we managed to film more than 150 animations, of which more than half were just combat. Tony Dehas wowed us with some spectacular shots - like his backward flip executed after standing on his adversary's knee. We made the best of the day and shot a "making of" film and scads of pictures to show to the rest of the team. I will be putting a few of the photos on this site shortly.
Now we are waiting with both impatience and curiosity while the animations are processed, so we can begin integrating them into the game.
