Preamble to Week 1

This is it! After six months' foot-slogging and hassling in the pre-production phase, visiting every publisher on the planet, we've succeeded! We wanted to find a publisher for Omikron. And now we've done it! The game is to be produced by EIDOS, and we've got to develop it. The hard work starts now.
If web-watchers have had no news for the first time in six months, and you feel sore because you haven't been kept up to date with what's happening at Quantic Dream (but please remember, it's the first time this has ever happened), don't think we've forgotten you. It's not that, it's just that the slave labor conditions that we've been working under in the last few weeks have hardly left us enough time to sleep.

Your E-mails have kept us going throughout the whole pre-production phase. Many thanks to all of you who wrote in to say how much you liked the newssheet. And how you enjoyed finding out how video games were made, and keeping tabs on the day to day experience of a development team, as seen from the inside. We've had hundreds of E-mails from all over the world telling us that, if the screen shots are anything to go by, Omikron is going to be the best game ever.

For all these reasons and many more, we're not going to stop the newssheet now that the contract for the game has been signed. We're going to tell you how things go right through to the end of the whole process. When the game comes out, you'll have seen how it was built up, bit by bit, and when you play it, perhaps you'll be reminded of some of the stories you read about here.

We all know that many developers have to keep communicating (basically to sell their products). But that's not the reason why we set up a web site more than a year ago. Quite simply, we're living through an extraordinary experience, and we're only too pleased to share it with you.

However, we'll be trying not to reveal the game. Not out of paranoia (no fear of being plundered!), but simply to ensure that you enjoy discovering the game as much as you should when it comes out.

My name is David Cage, I'm the Omikron Game Designer, and also, when I've got the time, I'm the Boss of Quantic Dream. The team calls me Boss, with affection I hope. You'll be hearing about the development through me. Just as we did during the pre-production phase, I'll try and keep you in touch with events as we live them, both the good and the bad, and be honest and up-front about everything. After that little preamble, here is Week 1's news.
