Week 38
The challenge we have set ourselves of scripting one section of the game per month is about to start. The whole week has been taken up with the preparation of the scripting, and particularly the assembly of all the necessary data: sets, characters, objects, animations, sound effects.
Olivier and Eric worked all weekend to be ready for Monday.
The last missing options of the adventure have been added into IAM, thanks to the joint efforts of Fabien and Simon. We are now starting to deploy our utilities, especially RAM for the animation of the 3D sets. Tony and Thierry, our animators, have spent several days animating doors, cupboards, drawers and other chests. One of the objectives of the game is to have fully interactive sets.
Tony has also had fun animating some non-human characters of the game, in particular the Mecaguard and a Sham (a huge beast like an elephant - the player can climb up onto its back). With Xavier's sound effects, the result is really successful.
The team has been strengthened (yet again) by the arrival of two new programmers, which brings our total to seven. The synchronization of all these people is not easy to achieve. Fabien, our beloved Main Programmer, has set up an almost military organization: each man has his task and each task has his man.
Loic spent the week between the design of the Palace of Ix, the final scene of the game, and the Story Board of the trailer in computer images. This film, which will be produced by a specialist company, will serve as a basis for the marketing of the game (shown at the E3, distribution on promotional CD, television and cinema advertising spots, promotional shots, etc.) With out producer Herve, we spent some time going to see various Paris companies likely to make this film. More news soon.
Tune in next week for further adventures.
