Berlinale Keynotes. Rethinking Movies: Where Film and Interactive Entertainment Meet - Fondaumière

Berlinale Conference
The Berlinale 2007 presents a new event tackling issues related to the future of the film and media industry: the Berlinale Keynotes. On Tuesday, February 13, the Berlin International Film Festival and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg are inviting participants to the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where entrepreneurs, visionaries and pioneers of the film industry will present and reflect upon their ideas of the future.

The digital revolution has arrived, bringing with it fundamental changes to the production, distribution, usage and financing of audiovisual goods and services. New players have entered the game, leading to major changes in market structures and presenting the “traditional” film and media industry with new challenges. While new platform providers seek out content, more traditional content providers are faced with the question of how – with which technologies, platforms and partners – to move their products most effectively to market in the future.

The Berlinale Keynotes create an international format for issues on the future of the industry. They are intended to become a running fixture at the Berlinale. "The Berlinale also sees itself as a platform for the discussion of the new challenges and strategies for the film industry and film culture in general," says festival director Dieter Kosslick. "Alongside the European Film Market, the Co-Production Market and the Talent Campus the Berlinale Keynotes ideally complement what we have to offer industry professionals."

Hosted by Gundolf S. Freyermuth, PH.D. (professor for comparative media studies / ifs Internationale Filmschule Cologne, Germany), the following speakers will deliver keynotes at the inauguration event at the Berlinale 2007:
